News: Datenraum Kärnten @ ORF

The Zentralraum Kärnten association has launched an innovative data platform, DatenraumKaernten.at, marking a significant step towards collaborative urban planning and management in Austria. This platform integrates diverse datasets, including mobility, parking utilization, weather, and population statistics from Klagenfurt, Villach, and St. Veit, enabling real-time insights such as public parking occupancy. Highlighting the platform’s benefits, Klagenfurt’s traffic planning official Constance Mochar (SPÖ) emphasized its potential for reducing unnecessary driving, thus lowering emissions and leading to quieter city centers. By leveraging anonymized mobile data, the platform offers a comprehensive understanding of commuting patterns, assisting in the precise planning of parking spaces and public transportation.

The platform based on Novunex´s Smart City Solution not only supports urban and transport planning but also aids the tourism sector, illustrated by tracking visitor numbers to events. Aimed at extending benefits beyond its initiators, the project invites other communities across Kärnten to participate, sharing the vision of enhancing services like water supply and energy consumption monitoring. With a collaborative investment from the participating cities and the province, this initiative exemplifies an ambitious approach to smart urban management, leveraging data to forge healthier, more sustainable communities.
