Step by Step

The sum of a Novunex App.

This quick start guide is designed to help you get started and create your first App.

Getting Started in 10 Steps

Step 1 - Add Users and User Groups

By adding users and user groups with specific roles to the system, you can assign different levels of access to the data and functionality of the system. This allows you to control who has access to what parts of the system and also make it easier for you to manage your team members' access to information as needed.

Step 2 - Design the Entity Types

The Entity Types (Data models) are the foundation of your application. They provide a clear and concise representation of the data you will be working with, and it helps you think through how that data flows in your system. You need to ensure that your application can handle all the potential requests or input from users. You want to build a secure and reliable application by knowing what kind of data you’re storing and how it will be used.

Step 3 - Create the Processes

Processes are the heart of your application’s functionality. They determine what happens when a user performs specific actions, which are crucial to your Novunex App’s success. Processes can be created for any number of different scenarios.

Step 4 - Build the Dashboards

A dashboard is a visual display of the data stored in Entity Types that helps you quickly understand what is happening in your App. Dashboards may show charts, allow you to explore data, or help you to manage your data.

Step 5 - Add the Items to the Menu

The subscription menu is an essential part of your Apps usability. It’s where users will go to find what they’re looking for, so it needs to be simple and easy to navigate. The easiest way to do this is by creating different menu items linked to dashboards in the navigation menu.

Step 6 - Add Custom Data Queries and Reports

The ability to create custom queries is a powerful tool that allows you to get a very specific result from your database, even if it doesn’t match an existing query type via standard widgets. This capability is especially helpful when you need to access data in a different format than what’s available using standard query types.

You can also create custom reports (PDF, XLSX, DOCX etc.) that contain data from the Novunex Platform. This can be accomplished by using Data Queries with a template file. You can import data from any Entity Type and use it in your reports.

Step 7 - Add Charts to Dashboards

If you are in a data-driven business, you know the importance of seeing your data in the most transparent way possible. This is why it is essential to use charts on dashboards—to ensure your team has access to the information they need in a format that is easy to understand and actionable.

Step 8 - Execute Time-Dependent Processes or Tasks

The Novunex Platform uses an advanced job scheduler that allows you to execute your own custom-made tasks and processes. The scheduler allows you to run any number of processes or assign tasks at once or on a repeating basis.

Step 9 - Integrate the Solution with REST API

The Novunex Platform is powered by a custom REST API that allows you to sync your data with other systems without having to copy and paste data between them. The REST API is a standardized way of communicating with the platform. This means that any third-party application can be integrated into the platform via the REST API, allowing you to get all of your data from one place.

Step 10 - Create an App for the Marketplace

The Novunex Platform allows you to create and manage your Apps. You can use our App Builder in the Marketplace to create Apps that provide unique functionality for your organization’s (or your customers') needs, or you can use one of our pre-built apps from the marketplace and customize them to your needs.

With the Marketplace, you have:

  1. The ability to create new Apps for yourself and your team members
  2. The ability to share Apps with other users within or outside your organization
  3. Access to existing and pre-built Apps and proven process models
